Most of my chamber music compositions have been always the starting point of larger works. The germ, the embryo. My Duo II for violin and cello is not an exception. A large amount of the musical ideas that belongs to this piece have been developed and transformed in a larger work called JE SUIS SURIKOV KAZAKH RUSSE. A commission that I received from the government of Krasnoyarsk, one of the main cities of Siberia, Russia. ts premiere was held on the 26th of December 2008. Mixed choir, children choir, Russian folk group, string orchestra, harp, celesta, eight percussionists, solo violin, solo cello and solo baritone. The raison d'être, the jubilee of the Russian artist Vassily Surikov.

It is dedicated to my friend, the cellist Eduardo Vassallo.

The Duo II is related to my Duo I, for violin and cello as well, through the persons to whom I dedicated both works. Two friends that represented very much in my personal and artistic life. I always imagine music cannot exist but as the denial of its own accomplishment. It means, in the right moment in which we finished listening a piece of music and it appears before us in its complete condition, there is no more music, but only the silence of the memory. Both duos are meant to recall the friendship and amity that I owe them.
